Role Overview :
The Bridge Inspection Engineer ensures public safety and confidence in Indiana’s infrastructure by conducting thorough inspections of bridges and large culverts. This role aligns with the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) and INDOT guidelines, focusing on structural integrity, material conditions, and defect identification. Regular inspections include biennial assessments of bridges and five-year evaluations of large culverts. The role also involves occasional emergency inspections outside of standard working hours.
This position demands strong critical thinking, effective communication skills (verbal and written), and adaptability in dynamic environments. Bridge Engineer:
Professional engineering license is not required for this position. Candidates who have an Engineering degree but do not hold a professional license may be hired at a lower minimum salary and will then be eligible for promotional increases upon achieving milestones, including passing the EIT exam, years of experience, and obtaining their professional engineering license.
Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $75,010.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
